Move your IPTV playlist to a new device, step by step

You changed TV, phone or box and want your channels back fast. Here is how to move your IPTV playlist to a new device without losing time — or a connection slot.

How do you move your IPTV playlist to a new device? With Klyvo Play, you do not copy anything from the old device: you install the app on the new one, note its two device codes, and attach your playlist to them — either by typing your Xtream login or M3U link, or from the client portal on your phone, or by asking your provider to do it. Then you free the old device so it no longer uses your line. It takes a few minutes. This guide explains each step, what moves and what does not, and the pitfalls to avoid.

Klyvo Play is a player. It provides no channel, film or series: the playlist you move is the one from the service you already have and are authorized to use.

What “moving a playlist” really means

A playlist is not a file stored inside your old TV. It is your access to your service — a server, a username and a password, or an M3U link containing them. In Klyvo Play, each installation of the app has its own identity: an address in MAC format and a Device Key. These codes are generated by the app, are not the hardware's real MAC address, and stay with that installation. Your playlists are tied to them. Moving to a new device therefore means attaching your playlist to the new device's codes.

Before you start: gather your details

  • Your original login: the message from your service with the server URL, username and password, or the M3U link. For your security, Klyvo Play never shows saved passwords in full again, so the app cannot give them back to you.
  • Your provider's contact, if they manage your device for you: they will need the new codes.
  • The new device, connected to the Internet, with the Klyvo Play app installed from its store — see install Klyvo Play everywhere.

Step 1: install Klyvo Play on the new device

Install the app from the right store: the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, Google Play for Android phones and tablets, the Amazon Appstore for Fire TV, or the direct download for Windows. All links are on the download page. Open the app: the first screen shows the new device's two codes. On a phone or tablet, long-press a code to copy it.

Step 2: attach your playlist to the new device

Three ways, pick the easiest for you:

  1. Type it in the app: under Connect your source, enter your Xtream login or paste your M3U link, then Connect. Guides: enter an Xtream Codes login and add an M3U playlist.
  2. Use the client portal: sign in with the new device's address and Device Key from your phone or computer, add the playlist, and the new device picks it up on its own within minutes. See manage your playlists with your MAC address and Device Key.
  3. Ask your provider or reseller: send them the two new codes; they can attach your line to them.

If you also use an XMLTV EPG link for a fuller TV guide, add it to the playlist on the portal for the new device as well.

Step 3: free the old device

This step is often forgotten, and it matters. Many services limit the number of devices or streams that can use a line at the same time. An old box left on in another room can keep a slot busy and trigger a “max connections” refusal on your new TV. To free it:

  • In the app on the old device, open Settings → My playlists and select Remove on the playlist.
  • Or, from the client portal, sign in with the old device's codes and remove its playlist, or delete all of this device's data.
  • If you are giving the device away or selling it, remove your playlists first: your line should not leave with it.

What moves, and what you set up again

  • Your channels, films and series come back as soon as the playlist is attached: they come from your service.
  • Your catalogue settings, such as the countries you put first, are chosen again in a few seconds.
  • Profiles, My list and Continue watching are kept on each device, so you recreate your profiles on the new one — including the Kids profile and the parental PIN. See family profiles.
  • The device codes do not move: the new device has its own.

Special cases: other platform, several playlists

  • Changing platform (for example from a Fire TV Stick to an Apple TV, or from an Android phone to an iPhone): the method is exactly the same. Your service does not care which device plays it, as long as the login is right.
  • Several playlists to move: repeat step 2 for each one. On the new device, open Settings → My playlists → Add a playlist and give each a Name (optional) such as “Living room” or “Second line” to tell them apart. Each shows its status and end date when the server provides it.
  • Your service gave you new details at the same time: use the new ones on the new device, and remove the old playlist everywhere else to avoid an “invalid login” on the devices you forgot.
  • You are moving from a phone to a TV: the portal is the fastest route, since you can copy and paste your link on the phone instead of typing it with a remote.

Your moving checklist

  1. Find your original login or M3U link from your service.
  2. Install Klyvo Play on the new device and note its two codes.
  3. Attach the playlist: in the app, on the portal or through your provider.
  4. Check that live TV, films and series load, and run Settings → Connection & stream test once on the new network.
  5. Recreate your profiles, the Kids profile and the parental PIN.
  6. Remove the playlist from the old device, or delete its data from the portal.

Same device, reinstalled: nothing to move

Reinstalling Klyvo Play on the same device is a different case. On Android, reinstalling the app keeps the same codes and does not restart the trial, so a playlist attached to those codes is found again. The codes are stored in the system's secure storage for that purpose. You only need the steps above when the hardware changes.

Free trial and licence on a new device

Every new device gets the full app free for 10 days. After that, the device needs a licence; on Apple devices, the subscription offered through your Apple Account covers iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. If you are replacing a device and have questions about your licence, the pricing page explains the options and support can help.

FAQ

Can I copy my device codes to the new device? No. Each installation has its own codes. You attach your playlist to the new codes instead.

I lost my password. Can Klyvo Play show it? No. Saved credentials are never shown in full again. Ask your service for your login details.

Why does my new TV say too many connections? Your old device may still be using the line. Remove the playlist from it, or turn it off, and try again.

Can I keep using both devices? Yes, as long as your service allows that number of simultaneous connections. After its own trial, each device must be covered by a licence — see the pricing page.

Do I lose my favourites? Profiles, My list and Continue watching stay on the old device; you rebuild them on the new one. Your channels and titles themselves come back with the playlist.

Conclusion

Moving your IPTV playlist to a new device takes three steps: install Klyvo Play, attach your playlist to the new device codes (in the app, on the portal or through your provider), and free the old device. Keep your original login at hand, and recreate your profiles in a minute. Download Klyvo Play on your new device — it starts with 10 days free.
