You came home late and the programme you wanted has already started — or ended. With IPTV catch-up, you can go back and watch it from the beginning, as long as your source keeps an archive of the channel. In Klyvo Play, this feature is called Replay. Here is what it is, when it works and how to use it.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service you already use and are authorized to use.
What is IPTV catch-up?
Catch-up (also called replay or timeshift) means watching a programme that has already aired on a live channel. It is not a recording made on your device: the archive is kept by your source, on its servers, for the channels it chooses and for the number of days it chooses. Klyvo Play reads that archive and plays it.
Two consequences follow:
- Not every channel has catch-up. It depends entirely on what your source offers.
- The archive window varies. Each source sets how many days are kept for each channel; Klyvo Play shows what the source makes available.
When your source supports catch-up
Xtream-compatible services declare, for each live channel, whether an archive exists and how many days it covers. They also send the past programmes of the channel with its TV guide. Klyvo Play uses both:
- the programmes your source flags as available in its archive are listed first;
- some sources support catch-up without flagging their programmes. When nothing is flagged, Klyvo Play still lists the programmes of the last three days, so you can try to replay them.
The list is built from the TV guide your source sends for the channel. If the channel has no programme data, there is nothing to list — our article on the TV guide (EPG) explains where that data comes from.
Open Replay on a phone or tablet
- Go to the Live tab.
- On the row of the channel you want, tap Replay (on a narrow screen, only its circular-arrow icon is shown).
- The Replay screen opens with the channel's name and its past programmes, grouped by day: Today, Yesterday, then the earlier days.
- Tap a programme: it plays from its beginning, in the same player as live TV.
Open Replay on a TV or on Windows
On Apple TV, Fire TV and in the Windows app, the Live screen shows a Replay button at the top when the channels of your list declare an archive. Move the focus to a channel, then select Replay: the screen opens on the programmes of that channel. Choose one with the arrows and press OK to play it.
Press the remote's back button (MENU on the Siri Remote) to return to the list of programmes, then to live TV.
How many days are available?
It depends on your source and on each channel: some keep a day or two, others a full week or more. Klyvo Play does not shorten or extend this window — it lists what the source makes available, grouped by day so you can find the right evening quickly.
If Replay shows nothing
- No recent programmes — "This channel has no catch-up archive right now": your source keeps no archive for this channel, or sends no programme data for it. Try another channel, or ask your provider which channels have catch-up.
- Replay unavailable: the archive could not be read at that moment. Go back and try again a little later.
- A programme does not start: the source may list a programme that is no longer in its archive, especially with older ones. Try a more recent programme.
Not connected yet? Select Explore the demo on the first screen: the demo channels have their own Replay, so you can try the feature before adding your source. See also how to install Klyvo Play.
FAQ
Does Klyvo Play record programmes? No. Replay plays the archive kept by your source. Nothing is recorded on your device, and the programmes available depend only on your source.
Why does one channel have Replay and not another? Catch-up is set channel by channel by your source. If a channel has no archive, its Replay list stays empty.
Can I replay a programme from a week ago? Only if your source keeps that channel's archive for a week. The number of days is decided by the source, not by the app.
