Your channels play, but the TV guide is empty, or every channel says No information. An IPTV EPG not showing is one of the most frequent questions about any player — and one of the most misunderstood. The guide is not built by the app: it comes from your source. When it is missing, the reason is usually that the provider sends no guide for those channels, or sends it in a way that cannot be matched. This article explains where Klyvo Play gets the programme, what each message means, and how to fill an empty TV guide.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series, and it does not invent programme listings: it shows the guide that comes with the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use.
Where Klyvo Play's TV guide comes from
The electronic programme guide (EPG) is a list of programmes with their start and end times, attached to each channel. In Klyvo Play it can come from two places:
- Your provider's panel. Most Xtream-compatible services send a short guide — what's on now and next — for the channels they have listings for. Klyvo Play reads it automatically, with nothing to set up.
- An EPG link (XMLTV). Many services also offer a full guide as an XMLTV link, often ending in xmltv.php. Once it is added to your playlist, the Klyvo server reads it and the app shows the fuller programme — in Live, in the TV guide and on each channel.
For a channel found in the XMLTV guide by its guide identifier, that guide is used. A channel matched only by its name gets the XMLTV programme when the panel has nothing for it. If neither source knows the channel, there is simply no programme to show. The basics are in the TV guide (EPG), and the format itself in what is an EPG and XMLTV.
What the messages mean
- Loading the guide… — the programme is being read. On a large playlist, rows fill as you scroll.
- No information under a channel — your source sends no listing for that channel.
- No guide for these channels. in the TV guide, or No guide available for this category. — none of the channels on screen has a listing.
None of these means the app is broken. They mean the guide data is not there for those channels.
Why the IPTV EPG is not showing
- The provider has no guide for those channels. Many playlists carry listings for their main channels only. Regional, event or very new channels often have none.
- The channel has no guide identifier. Providers link each channel to its listing with an ID. When that ID is missing or wrong, the listing cannot be attached, even if it exists.
- Your playlist has no EPG link. Without an XMLTV link, the app relies on the panel's short guide only, which may be sparse.
- The connection is struggling. Guide requests travel over the same line as your streams. Klyvo Play treats them as background work, so they never compete with what you are watching — on a slow connection the guide can take longer to appear.
- The panel's guide service is down. Like any server, a provider's guide can be temporarily unavailable. It usually comes back on its own.
Add an EPG link to fill an empty TV guide
The most effective fix for an IPTV EPG not showing is to add the XMLTV link of your service to your playlist. Ask your provider for it: it cannot always be deduced from an M3U link. Then:
- On the customer portal (portail.klyvoplay.com): sign in with your device's MAC Address and Device Key, open your playlist and add the EPG link. See managing playlists with the MAC address and Device Key.
- Or through your reseller: they can add the EPG link for you when they set up or update your playlist.
- Wait a few minutes. The Klyvo server reads the guide, and the programme appears in Live, the TV guide and under each channel.
You do not need to type anything on the TV, and the link is attached to the playlist, so every device using that playlist through the portal benefits from it.
How the guide stays up to date
Once listings are there, Klyvo Play keeps them current without interrupting playback. The "now" programme rolls over each minute, aligned with the clock, so a programme that has just ended is not left on screen. Fresh listings are pulled in the background every ten minutes, and again whenever you come back to the app. These refreshes never restart the channel you are watching, and while a player is open they are kept to one at a time so they never take the line's connection away from your stream.
Several playlists, several guides
The EPG link belongs to a playlist, not to the device. If you keep several playlists in Settings → My playlists — a second line, a backup from the same provider — each one needs its own EPG link to get a full guide. When you switch to another playlist with Play, Klyvo Play shows the guide of that playlist, and the previous one's listings are not mixed in.
That also explains a common surprise: the guide is complete on the living-room TV and sparse on a phone. If the TV plays a playlist with an EPG link and the phone plays another entry without one, they will not show the same programme. Make sure both devices use a playlist that has the link, or add it to each.
When the guide shows, but is wrong
A guide that appears with times shifted by an hour, or the programme of another channel, is a different problem: the data is there but does not match. It usually comes from the provider's listings, sometimes from the device's clock or time zone. See IPTV guide showing the wrong time.
Checklist: IPTV EPG not showing
- Check several channels: if the main ones have a guide and others don't, your source lacks listings for them.
- Ask your provider whether they offer an XMLTV link, and add it on the customer portal or through your reseller.
- Wait a few minutes after adding it, then reopen the TV guide.
- Run Settings → Connection & stream test if the guide is slow to appear everywhere.
- If the guide disappeared for every channel at once, the provider's guide service may be down — try again later.
FAQ
Can Klyvo Play add a guide for channels my provider doesn't cover? No. The app only shows listings that come from your source or from the EPG link attached to your playlist. It never invents a programme.
Where do I find my EPG link? From your provider. It is often an address ending in xmltv.php with your login in it. If they have none, the panel's short guide is all there is.
How long after adding the link does the programme appear? Usually within a few minutes: the Klyvo server reads the XMLTV guide, then the app picks it up at its next refresh. Reopen the TV guide, or leave the app and come back to it, to see it sooner.
Does the guide matter for replay? Yes. When your source keeps an archive of a channel, the guide is where you pick a past programme to watch — see catch-up and replay.
Is the EPG link an extra cost in the app? The guide features are part of the app; for the app's plans, see the pricing page. The link itself comes from your service.
Get your IPTV EPG showing again
In almost every case, an IPTV EPG not showing means the source has no listings for those channels, or the playlist has no XMLTV link yet. Add the link once on the portal and Klyvo Play keeps the guide fresh on its own. Download Klyvo Play and try it with your own service, free for 10 days.
