Can you record an IPTV channel with Klyvo Play? No: Klyvo Play has no recording feature — no record button, no scheduled recordings, no cloud recorder. It is a player that plays live channels, films and series from the service you connect. In practice, most of the need behind "recording" is covered differently: if your service keeps an archive of a channel, Replay (catch-up) lets you watch a programme that has already aired, from its beginning, without recording anything. This article explains what recording would involve, why it is not in the app, and how to avoid missing what you care about.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.
What "recording an IPTV channel" usually means
The phrase covers several different things, which is why answers online are often confusing:
- Local recording (PVR): the player saves the live stream into a file on the device or on a USB drive while it plays, or at a scheduled time.
- Cloud recording: a service records programmes on its own servers and lets you play them later.
- Catch-up (timeshift): the service keeps an archive of some channels for a number of days, and a compatible player can play any past programme from that archive.
Only the last one is about what your service offers rather than what your player does — and it is the one Klyvo Play supports.
Why Klyvo Play does not record IPTV channels
A recording feature is not just a button. Recording a live stream ties up a connection to your service for as long as it runs — and many lines allow only one connection at a time, so recording one channel can stop you from watching another. It also needs storage that TV sticks and phones rarely have to spare, and it raises the question of what may be recorded, which depends on the rights attached to each programme and on your service's terms.
Klyvo Play's choice is to focus on playing well what your service makes available, including its archive when it has one. Being honest about it matters more than promising a feature that does not exist: if recording is essential for you, check the current offer of other apps or devices yourself, and make sure what you record is allowed.
Catch-up: the best alternative to recording
When your service keeps an archive of a channel, you do not need to record it: the programme is already stored on the service's side. Klyvo Play calls this Replay.
- Open the Live tab and find the channel.
- Select Replay on the channel's row (on a TV, the Replay button at the top of the Live screen, with the channel under the focus).
- Past programmes are listed by day: Today, Yesterday, then earlier days.
- Select a programme: it plays from the beginning, in the same player as live TV.
How far back you can go depends on your service and on each channel — often a few days. When a service supports catch-up but does not flag its programmes, Klyvo Play still lists the last three days so you can try. Full details, including how timeshift works on the service side, in IPTV catch-up. If Replay stays empty, see catch-up not working.
How to know which channels have catch-up
Before you miss a programme, it is worth knowing where catch-up is available. In Klyvo Play, a channel your service keeps an archive for offers Replay; on a TV, the Replay button appears at the top of the Live screen when the channels of the list declare an archive. A channel without it simply has no Replay entry.
If you are not sure, ask your service three simple questions: which channels have an archive, how many days it keeps, and whether watching from the archive counts as a connection like live TV. The answers tell you whether catch-up covers your habits — evening news, weekend matches, a weekly series — or whether you will mostly rely on the TV guide and on-demand films.
Want to see what Replay looks like before connecting your own service? The demo channels in Explore the demo keep two days of royalty-free programmes you can replay.
What catch-up can and cannot replace
- Can: watching a programme you missed, from the start, within the archive window, on any device where the app is installed.
- Can: starting a programme from its beginning when you arrive late.
- Cannot: keeping a programme forever. When it leaves the service's archive, it is gone.
- Cannot: replaying a channel your service keeps no archive for.
- Cannot: replaying programmes that are not in the channel's guide, since the list of past programmes comes from it.
Plan ahead with the TV guide
Recording is often a way to avoid a clash between two programmes, or to cover a time when you are not at home. The TV guide helps you plan instead: on the Live screen and in the guide, you see what is on now and what comes next, and on a phone the Tonight view shows the evening's programmes at a glance. The guide comes from your service, and can be completed with an XMLTV guide link added to the playlist — see TV guide (EPG).
Two programmes at the same time: Multi-Live
When the problem is two live events at once, recording one is not the only answer. Multi-Live shows two live channels side by side, with the sound on the one you choose — handy for two matches or a match and the news. It needs your line to allow two connections, and it is not available on TV sticks with 1 GB of memory. See Multi-Live.
Films and series: nothing to record
If what you want to keep is a film or an episode, there is usually no reason to record it: films and series from your service's catalogue (VOD) are available on demand, as long as they stay in the catalogue. Add them to My list to find them later, and stop whenever you like — Continue watching brings you back to the exact moment. See resuming a film where you stopped.
The catalogue itself is your service's decision: titles come and go as it updates its offer. If a film you care about disappears, the player cannot bring it back — which is one more reason to watch what you saved in My list rather than letting it wait for months.
A word on rights
IPTV technology and players are legal; what may be watched, archived or recorded depends on the content and the rights of the service that distributes it, and rules on private copies vary between countries. Klyvo Play does not give legal advice. The simple rule: use services you are authorized to use, and their catch-up when they offer it.
