You are in the middle of a film, or you come back from a message, and the app is gone — back to the home screen, or starting over. An IPTV app that keeps closing is frustrating, and on TV sticks and entry-level phones the cause is nearly always the same: the device ran out of memory, and the system closed the app to get it back. This guide explains why it happens, what Klyvo Play already does on devices with little memory, and the steps that make crashes stop.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use.
Why an IPTV app closes by itself
Video apps are among the most demanding on a device. While you watch, the player keeps a reserve of video in memory; the catalogue holds thousands of channels and posters; and the system itself, plus other apps, takes its share. On a device with plenty of memory, that is no problem. On a 1 GB TV stick or a 2 to 3 GB phone, the total can exceed what is available, and Android — like Fire OS, which is based on it — closes the app using the most memory. From your point of view, the app "crashed".
Three other causes are worth knowing:
- The app was sent to the background, not closed. On a TV, pressing Back from the profile screen sends Klyvo Play to the background, without disconnecting your line. If the system needs memory later, it may then close it.
- An outdated version. Fixes for crashes ship in updates; an old version keeps old problems.
- A modified copy of the app. APKs downloaded from unofficial sites can be altered and unstable — see avoiding modded APKs.
What Klyvo Play does on devices with little memory
Customer reports of the app closing on small devices led to a dedicated behaviour, switched on automatically — it is not a setting you need to find. On Android phones and boxes with less than about 3 GB of memory, and on 1 GB TV sticks, Klyvo Play runs in a lighter mode:
- Pictures are kept on disk rather than in memory, and fewer of them are prepared ahead of time.
- Long lists keep fewer rows alive while you scroll.
- The picture memory is emptied whenever the app goes to the background — answering a message no longer means coming back to an app that closed itself. The pictures stay on disk and reappear at once.
- The live buffer is capped lower on low-memory Android devices: the reserve of an HD or 4K channel would otherwise take tens of megabytes on top of the app.
- Multi-Live is not offered on 1 GB TV sticks, because playing two channels at once needs two video decoders, which such a stick cannot hold alongside the catalogue.
Nothing else is removed: every screen and feature stays. Apple devices do not need this mode.
IPTV app keeps closing: the fixes
- Restart the device. A full restart — on a TV stick, unplugging it for a few seconds — frees memory held by other apps.
- Close the apps you are not using. On a stick or a box, apps left open in the background keep their memory.
- Free storage space. A device whose storage is almost full becomes slow and unstable. Uninstall apps you no longer use.
- Update Klyvo Play from your store — the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. On Windows, the app updates itself.
- Keep the live buffer on Automatic. In Settings → Playback → Live TV buffer, the deeper options use more memory. On a small device, Automatic (recommended) is the right choice.
- Install only from an official store, never a modified APK.
Clearing the cache, reinstalling, resetting
On Android and Fire TV, the device's own app settings let you clear the cache of an app. It is harmless and can help after an update. Clearing the data goes further: it removes what the app has stored on the device, so avoid it unless you need a clean start.
Reinstalling is rarely needed. If you do it on Android, Klyvo Play keeps the same device codes — the MAC Address and Device Key — so a playlist attached on the customer portal comes back, and reinstalling does not restart the free trial.
Do not use Settings → Reset this device to fix crashes. It "permanently deletes from this device your identity (MAC / Device Key), playlist, profiles, downloads and preferences" and generates a new identity — a much bigger step than the problem requires.
When the device itself is the limit
If a 1 GB stick keeps closing apps even after these steps, it may simply be at the end of what it can do with a large catalogue and HD video. Devices with more memory — a recent Fire TV Stick 4K model, an Apple TV, a good Android TV box — run Klyvo Play comfortably, including Multi-Live. Slowness on an Android-based box is covered in slow IPTV on Android TV, and choosing a stick in the best IPTV app for Fire TV Stick.
Heat and power: two forgotten causes
A TV stick tucked behind a television, against the wall, can get very hot after an hour of video. When it overheats, it slows down and may close apps or restart. A short HDMI extension that lets it hang away from the TV improves airflow a lot. Power matters too: a stick powered from the TV's USB port may not get enough current; use the adapter supplied with it, plugged into a wall socket. If the stick feels hot to the touch, unplug it for a few minutes before trying again.
Still closing? Tell us precisely
If the app keeps closing after all these steps, the details help the support team find the cause quickly. Note:
- the exact device model and its amount of memory, if you know it;
- the app version, shown in Settings → About → Version;
- what you were doing when it closed — watching live TV, a film, scrolling a long list, coming back from another app;
- whether it happens every time or only after a while.
Then reach out through the support page. Never send your playlist's password: it is not needed to look into a crash.
Closing versus stopping: know the difference
Not every interruption is a crash. If playback stops but the app stays open with Reconnecting… or Channel unavailable, the stream has stopped, not the app — see IPTV black screen. If the app shows Playlist expired, the line has ended. A real crash returns you to the device's home screen.
FAQ
Why does the app close when I come back from another app? The system closed it while it was in the background, to free memory. On devices with little memory, Klyvo Play now empties its picture memory as soon as it goes to the background, which makes this much rarer.
Can I turn on the lighter mode myself? No need: it switches on automatically on Android devices with little memory, and stays off where it isn't needed.
Why is Multi-Live missing on my stick? On 1 GB TV sticks, two channels at once would overload the memory, so the feature is not offered there. Models with more memory keep it.
Will I lose my playlist if the app crashes? No. Your playlist and settings stay saved; reopen the app and pick up where you were. Plans for the app itself are on the pricing page.
Keep your IPTV app from closing
An IPTV app that keeps closing is, most of the time, a device short of memory — and Klyvo Play is built to need less of it on small sticks and phones. Restart, update, keep the buffer on Automatic, and install only from official stores. Download Klyvo Play and try it free for 10 days on your own devices.
