Live channels play fine, but when you choose a film, nothing happens: the loading circle spins, an error appears, or the Films tab is simply empty. IPTV films not playing is a different problem from live TV that cuts out, because a film is a file stored on your provider's server, read from start to finish, and it has its own ways of failing. In most cases the cause is the source — a file that is no longer there, a line already in use, a catalogue the subscription does not include — and sometimes the device. This guide shows you how to tell the cases apart with the messages Klyvo Play displays, and what to do for each.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use. The films you see are the ones your provider's catalogue contains.
Three different failures, three different messages
Before trying anything, note exactly what you see. Klyvo Play says which case you are in:
- Movies unavailable — “This playlist may not offer VOD.”: the app could not read any film catalogue from your line.
- No movie in this category., or “No movies for this country on your playlist. Choose another country.”: the catalogue was read, but this category or this country has nothing.
- “This category couldn't be loaded. Choose it again to retry.”: the server did not send that category in time.
- An error card in the player — “This content couldn't be played. Try again later.” — with Retry and Back buttons: the catalogue is fine, but this film does not open.
When the Films tab is empty
An empty Films tab rarely means a broken app. The usual reasons:
- Your subscription has no VOD. Some lines only include live channels. Films and series are read separately from live TV, so live can work while films are missing. Ask your provider what your line includes; the guide to IPTV films and series explains how VOD works.
- The country filter. Klyvo Play organizes the catalogue around the countries you chose. If a country has no films on your playlist, the app says so; choose another country or change it in Settings → Account and device → Catalogue country.
- The profile. A Kids profile only shows content for children, and adult content stays hidden everywhere outside the Adult 18+ mode.
- A slow server. If a category could not be loaded, select it again: the app asks once more.
IPTV films not playing: what the player already tries
When a film does not start, Klyvo Play does not give up at the first refusal. It waits a moment and tries again, up to three times, and shows Reconnecting… meanwhile — a provider line that was still busy with a previous stream often frees itself within a few seconds. Only after that does the error card appear.
The film is opened exactly as your provider lists it, in the file format the provider declares for it. The built-in VLC-based engine reads the formats many players reject — MKV, AVI, HEVC/H.265, Dolby and DTS audio — so a common format is rarely the reason. On Windows, the app converts MKV and AVI files and some audio formats on the fly. More in playing MKV, HEVC and AC3.
The usual causes on the provider's side
- The file is gone. Catalogues change: a title can stay listed after its file was removed or moved on the server. It then refuses to open on every device.
- The line is in use. Many subscriptions allow one stream at a time. If live TV plays on another screen with the same line, the film may be refused — this is the most frequent cause in a family home.
- The server is overloaded. In the evening especially, a film can take too long to start; see IPTV buffering in the evening.
- A wrongly declared file. If the provider announces one format and serves another, or the file is damaged, no player can read it reliably.
Step by step: get a film to play
- Select Retry once, after a few seconds.
- Try another film of the same category. If none plays, the line or the server is at fault; if only one fails, it is that file.
- Stop playback on your other devices that use the same line, then try again.
- Run Settings → Connection & stream test. “Line busy — stop playback on your other devices, then run the test again” confirms a line already in use; “Connection is good, but the source returns no stream.” points to the provider.
- On a slow connection, choose Data saver in Settings → Playback → Video quality. It keeps the largest reserve of the film in advance; the price is a slightly longer wait at the start.
- Restart the device, especially a small TV stick that has been on for days.
- Check the device with the demo. Explore the demo plays royalty-free open films such as Sintel, Big Buck Bunny and Tears of Steel. If they play, your device and the app are fine.
- Contact your provider with the film's title and the time: they can check whether the file exists on their server.
A film that starts, then stops
If a film plays for a while and then stops, the cause is usually the network or the server rather than the file format. The player keeps your position: open the film again and choose Resume to continue where you stopped. Changing the quality option during playback reloads the film at the same moment, so you can switch to Data saver without losing your place. If a film always stops at the very same minute on every device, that part of the file is probably damaged — tell your provider. Resuming is covered in detail in continue watching.
When the device is the limit
A wide engine does not change what the hardware can display. A 4K HEVC film can refuse to play, or play with sound and no picture, on an HD-only stick, an Apple TV HD or an older TV. If 4K films fail while HD films play, choose the HD version when your catalogue offers one, or watch on a device that supports 4K. See IPTV in 4K, HDR and HEVC.
Memory matters too. On Android phones and TV sticks with little memory, Klyvo Play automatically keeps a smaller reserve of the film, so that the system does not close the app to get its memory back. On such a device, a film read over a slow connection may pause more often; Data saver still gives the largest reserve available there, and restarting the device frees the memory other apps were holding.
FAQ
Why do live channels work but not films? They are served separately by your provider. A line without VOD, or a VOD service that is down, leaves live TV untouched.
Why does a film take a few seconds to start? The player loads several seconds of the film ahead before showing it, so that small dips in the connection do not freeze the picture. On a fast line, that reserve fills in about a second.
Can Klyvo Play add missing films? No. The catalogue comes entirely from your provider; the app only reads and plays it.
The film plays on my phone but not on my TV stick. Why? The stick may not handle that resolution or format, or it may be short of memory. Try the HD version, restart the stick, and compare with the demo films.
Do I need to install a codec? No. The VLC-based engine is built into the app on every platform. Plans for the app itself are on the pricing page.
