Yesterday everything played. Today the app or the device installed an update, and now the channels stay empty, the app takes ages to open, or it stops on a message. IPTV not working after an update is a frequent worry, but the update itself is rarely the real culprit: most of the time, the first launch is simply doing extra work, the device needs a restart, or something else changed on the same day — very often your provider's server. This guide helps you work out which update is involved, explains what a Klyvo Play update keeps and what it changes, and gives the steps that bring your channels back.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use. An app update never changes what your subscription includes.
Which update are we talking about?
Several things can update without you noticing, and they do not call for the same fix:
- The app itself, from the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. On Windows, Klyvo Play updates itself.
- A small update of the app at launch. Klyvo Play can receive fixes between two store versions; the app fetches them when it starts.
- The device's system: tvOS on Apple TV, Fire OS on a Fire TV Stick, Android on a phone or box, Windows on a PC.
- Your provider's server. Providers also update their panels, move to new addresses or change ports — and that has nothing to do with your device, even if it happens the same week.
What a Klyvo Play update keeps
An update of the app does not touch your line, and it keeps what identifies your device:
- The device codes — the MAC Address and the Device Key shown in the app — stay the same, so a playlist your provider attached to them on the customer portal keeps working.
- Your playlists, kept encrypted on the device and with the device's other playlists, so every launch finds them again.
- Your profiles, My list, Continue watching and preferences, stored on the device.
In other words, if your channels disappear right after an update, the cause is almost never a lost login. Look at the line and the first launch first.
The first launch after an update is longer
Before talking to your provider, Klyvo Play checks whether a newer fix has been published since the version installed. If there is one, it downloads it and restarts once on it — you may see the app close and reopen by itself. That check is capped: on a slow or absent network, the app just starts with the version it has.
On a TV, the app then shows Getting KLYVO PLAY ready, with a progress bar and steps such as Loading categories… and Loading live channels…. It prepares Home, Films, Series and Live so that everything opens already painted. The first time, this usually takes 10 to 15 seconds, and it never lasts more than about 25. After some updates, the lists the app keeps on the device are rebuilt, so the first launch can be slower than usual. Let it finish once before concluding that something is broken.
Check which version is running
Open Settings → About. The Version card shows the version number, followed, when a fix received at launch is running, by a short marker with its date. What's new lists the latest changes. If you contact support, that line answers the first question they will ask.
IPTV not working after an update: the fixes
- Close the app completely and reopen it. On Fire TV and Android, use Force stop in the system's app settings (on Fire TV: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications); on iPhone, swipe the app away; on Apple TV, double-press the TV button and swipe it up; on Windows, close the window.
- Restart the device. After a system update in particular, a full restart — unplugging a TV stick for a few seconds — clears a lot of odd behaviour.
- Check the line. In Settings → My playlists, each playlist shows Active, Expired, Inactive or Status unknown. An expired line coinciding with an update is a classic — see checking your playlist's end date.
- Run Settings → Connection & stream test. Its verdict tells you whether the internet, the source or the line is at fault.
- Make sure the update is complete. In your store, check that no further update of Klyvo Play is waiting.
- Clear the app's cache in the system settings (Android, Fire TV). It is harmless; Klyvo Play has no cache button of its own. Details in resetting an IPTV app and clearing its cache.
- Reinstall only as a last resort. On Android and Fire TV, a reinstall keeps the same device codes, and it does not restart the free trial.
When the device's system was updated
A system update can reset settings the app depends on. After one, check three things in the device's own settings, not in the app:
- Date, time and time zone set automatically. A wrong clock shifts the TV guide — see IPTV guide showing the wrong time.
- Display and sound output. Resolution, HDR or surround settings sometimes return to their defaults, which can give a dark picture or no sound on a soundbar.
- Free storage. Big system updates take space; a device with almost no storage left becomes slow and unstable.

When it is the provider who updated
If the app opens normally but shows Content unavailable, or “Your provider's server refused the connection” with a code, the problem is the source. Providers sometimes move to a new address or port; the old one then answers 404, or does not answer at all. Ask your provider for the current server address, add it as a new playlist in Settings → My playlists, and remove the old one. IPTV error codes explained helps you read the number.
To tell the app from the source in one step, open Settings → Account and device → Explore the demo. It plays royalty-free sample content without your playlist. If the demo plays normally after the update while your own channels do not, the app is working and the cause is on the line's side. Leave the demo with Sign out, which takes you back to the activation screen; from there, connect your source again if it is not picked up on its own.
Two things not to do
- Do not install an “updated” APK from an unofficial site. Official versions come only from the App Store, Google Play, the Amazon Appstore and the Klyvo Play site for Windows. A modified copy can be unstable or unsafe — see avoiding modded APKs.
- Do not use Settings → Reset this device to fix an update. It permanently erases this device's identity, playlists, profiles and preferences, and a new MAC Address and Device Key are generated — so a playlist attached to the old codes no longer reaches this device.
FAQ
Will an update erase my playlist? No. Updates keep your playlists, your device codes and your profiles.
The app restarted by itself right after opening. Is that a crash? Usually not: it is the app applying a fix it has just downloaded. It happens once, then the app opens normally.
Can I go back to the previous version? Stores do not offer that. If something really changed for the worse, report it to the support page with your version number from Settings → About.
Do I need to update the app at all? Yes: fixes for playback, memory use and provider compatibility arrive through updates. Turn on automatic updates in your store.
IPTV working again after the update
IPTV not working after an update usually comes down to a longer first launch, a device that needs a restart, or a change on the provider's side the same day. Updates keep your codes and playlists, so start with the line and the stream test, then the simple fixes above. New to Klyvo Play?
