Hide adult content on IPTV: the Adult 18+ section

Many IPTV playlists include adult bouquets. Here is how Klyvo Play keeps them out of sight by default, how the Adult 18+ mode works, and what to use for children.

To hide adult content on IPTV in Klyvo Play, you have nothing to do: adult bouquets are hidden everywhere by default — in Live, Films, Series, Home and Search. They only appear in the Adult 18+ mode, which opens with a 4-digit code of its own and closes again every time the app starts. For a child, the Kids profile goes further and shows only children's categories. This guide explains how the hiding works, how to set the Adult code, what the mode remembers (very little, on purpose) and the limits you should know about.

Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.

Why adult content shows up in IPTV playlists

A player shows what your service sends. Many services include adult bouquets in their catalogues, often next to general categories, and some also scatter adult channels or films inside broader bouquets. In a basic player, that content simply sits in the list, a few presses away from the news or the cartoons — not what you want on a family TV, when friends borrow the remote, or on a tablet that teenagers use after school.

Klyvo Play cannot remove anything from your service, and it does not need to: it decides what to display. The approach is simple — adult content is hidden unless an adult deliberately asks for it.

How Klyvo Play hides adult content by default

  • Adult bouquets are recognised by their names — the words and markers services commonly use, such as "XXX" or "18+" — and left out of the normal view.
  • Adult items inside general bouquets are filtered too, when their own name says adult.
  • Everywhere at once: Live, Films, Series, Home rows and Search all follow the same rule, so there is no back door through the search box.
  • No setting to forget: it is the default on every new installation and every profile.

The filtering happens when the lists are read, not when they are stored, so a list seen in one mode can never leak into the other.

The Adult 18+ mode: content behind a code

Adults who want to access these bouquets can open the Adult 18+ mode from the settings. The first time, you create the code:

  1. Open Settings and select Adult 18+ ("Adult content, protected by a code").
  2. Choose Create the Adult code: 4 digits, different from the parental code.
  3. Enter the same 4 digits again to confirm.
  4. From then on, Open the Adult 18+ mode asks for that code.

While the mode is open, the catalogue shows only the adult bouquets, and the app makes it obvious: the logo at the top reads "ADULT 18+" in red, and on a phone a Leave button sits right next to it. On a TV, the side menu has its own entry to leave. You can also select Leave Adult mode in Settings ("Back to the normal catalogue"). You can change the code at any time with Change the code, which asks for the current one first.

Because the mode shows only adult bouquets, there is no mixing: you never see adult titles next to the family ones, even while the mode is open. Closing it brings the normal catalogue straight back.

What closes the mode automatically

The mode is never stored. It closes on its own:

  • At every launch of the app: each session starts in the normal catalogue.
  • When you switch profile, even to a similar one.
  • When you change playlist.
  • When you open the demo.

So if you open it on the living-room TV and forget, the next person who starts the app does not find it open.

What the Adult 18+ mode does not remember

  • Continue watching: nothing played in the mode is recorded, so it never appears on Home afterwards — see Continue watching.
  • My list: an item added to My list in the mode is shown only in the mode, never in the normal view — see IPTV favourites.
  • Search: in the normal catalogue, adult titles stay out of results — see searching channels and films.
  • TV previews: on a TV, an adult channel never starts playing by itself in the preview; it opens only when you press OK.

Kids profile: the stricter option for children

Hiding adult content is about not showing one kind of content. A Kids profile works the other way round: it shows only the categories whose names look like children's bouquets (kids, cartoons, family brands and similar words), so a child sees children's films, series and channels and nothing else. The Adult 18+ mode does not exist in a Kids profile: the Adult section is not even shown there.

Add a 4-digit parental PIN under Parental controls ("Create or change the PIN") and the child cannot leave the Kids profile to switch back to an adult profile without you. Step-by-step setup is in our Kids profile guide and the wider parental control guide.

The limits, honestly

Recognising adult content from names works well with the way services usually label their bouquets, but it depends on those names. A bouquet named in a way that gives no hint at all cannot be recognised by any player. Two practical consequences:

  • For children, use the Kids profile, not just the default filter: it is an allowlist, so an unlabelled bouquet stays out. If your service labels no children's bouquet at all, the Kids profile shows nothing — the safe outcome.
  • If you spot something that should not be there, tell your service: a clear label in their panel fixes it for every player.

Also remember that profiles and codes are kept on each device. Set them up on every screen children use. See family profiles for a household plan.

What the Adult 18+ mode is — and what it is not

The mode is a privacy and comfort feature for a shared screen: it keeps adult bouquets out of everyday browsing and puts them behind a code that only the adults of the household know. It is not an age-verification system, and it does not judge or check the content your service offers — that remains your service's responsibility and yours. It also does not change anything on your service's side: other players using the same line will show whatever they show.

Good habits for a shared screen

  1. Create one profile per person, plus a Kids profile for each child.
  2. Set the parental PIN so children stay in their profile.
  3. Only create the Adult code if someone in the household actually needs the mode, and keep it different from the parental PIN.
  4. Leave the mode when you have finished, even though it closes at the next launch anyway.
