IPTV parental control is what lets children use the family TV without landing on programmes that are not meant for them. An IPTV playlist often contains everything a service offers — news, films, series, sometimes adult channels — so the player has to do the filtering. In Klyvo Play, three tools work together: a Kids profile that only shows children's categories, a parental PIN that keeps a child inside that profile, and adult content hidden by default, opened only with its own code. This guide explains how each one works, how to set up parental controls on IPTV step by step, and what the limits are.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.
Why IPTV needs parental control in the player
With classic television, the channels and their ratings come from the broadcaster. With IPTV, the service sends a playlist and the player displays it. Categories are named by the service, sometimes with country tags, sometimes in another language, and nothing guarantees that a children's channel sits far from an adult one. That is why parental control on IPTV is mainly the player's job — and why it must work on every screen of the app, not only on the live channels.
The Kids profile: only what is meant for children
Many filters try to hide adult content and miss whatever is not labelled. The Kids profile takes the opposite approach: it only shows the categories your service labels for children — cartoons, kids' channels, family films. Everything else stays out of sight:
- on Home, where the rows only draw from children's categories;
- in Live, Films and Series;
- in Search, which cannot reach anything outside those categories;
- in the profile's own My list and Continue watching.
The filter relies on how your service names its categories. If a children's category does not appear, it is because the service does not label it as such — ask it, or choose another category with your child. Details and screenshots are in Kids profile and parental PIN.
The parental PIN: staying in the right profile
A Kids profile is only useful if a child cannot switch back to an adult profile in two clicks. That is the job of the parental PIN: a 4-digit code, created under Parental controls in the menu. Once it is set, leaving the Kids profile to open another one asks for the code.
- Choose a code that is not obvious: not a birth year, not 1234.
- Keep it to the adults of the house.
- Set it on each device: the code is stored on the device, in its secure storage, so a TV and a tablet each have their own.
Adult content: hidden by default, behind its own code
Adult categories are a separate matter. In Klyvo Play, adult content is hidden everywhere — on Home, in Live, Films, Series and Search — in every profile. To see it, an adult opens the Adult 18+ mode from the menu, with a 4-digit Adult code created for that purpose and different from the parental PIN.
- The mode closes every time the app starts: nobody finds it open the next morning.
- It is never offered in a Kids profile.
- Items added to My list in that mode only appear in that mode, never in the normal view — see favourites and My list.
- Leave Adult mode returns to the normal catalogue at any time.
So even an adult profile, left open on the living-room TV, does not show adult content unless someone enters the code.
How to set up IPTV parental control in ten minutes
- Open the Who's watching? screen and select Add to create a profile for each child.
- When creating it, turn on Kids profile.
- In the menu, open Parental controls and create a 4-digit PIN.
- Turn on Show this screen at every launch, so the app asks who is watching each time it opens.
- Open the Kids profile once and check that the categories shown are the ones you expect.
- Repeat on each device the children use — profiles and codes are kept per device.
The full profile setup, with photos and colours, is in multiple profiles for the family.
A shared TV and a child's own tablet: two setups
On the family TV, everyone uses the same screen, so the key is the Who's watching? screen at every launch: each person picks their profile, and the child picks theirs. The parental PIN stops the child from choosing an adult profile instead. On a tablet that belongs to a child, you can go further: create only a Kids profile for daily use, lock it with the PIN, and turn off the profile screen at launch so the tablet always opens straight into the child's catalogue. Add the device's screen-time limits on top, and the tablet becomes a safe, self-contained TV for the child.
Add the device's own controls
The player filters the content; the device can limit everything else. The two work well together:
- iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: Screen Time can limit usage time, restrict apps by age rating and require a code for purchases.
- Android phones and tablets: Google Family Link manages screen time and the apps a child can install or open.
- Fire TV: parental controls can require a PIN for purchases and for opening apps.
- Windows: family settings let you create a child account with time limits.
Device controls are useful for screen time and app access; the Kids profile and the parental PIN take care of what is shown inside Klyvo Play.
The limits of any parental control
- It depends on labels: the Kids profile shows what your service marks as for children. A wrongly named category can slip in or out; check it once.
- It is per device: profiles, PINs and the Adult code are not synced between devices.
- It does not replace attention: no filter knows your child as well as you do. Keep shared screens in shared rooms when you can.
- It cannot rate individual programmes that your service does not describe.
FAQ
What is the best IPTV parental control setting for young children? A Kids profile locked with a parental PIN, with Show this screen at every launch turned on, so the child always starts in their own profile.
Can a child leave the Kids profile? Not once a parental PIN is set: switching to another profile asks for the 4-digit code.
Is adult content visible in an adult profile? No. It is hidden in every profile and only appears in the Adult 18+ mode, opened with its own code and closed at every launch.
Can a child find adult content through Search in the Kids profile? No. Search in a Kids profile only looks inside the categories that profile shows, and adult content stays hidden in every profile anyway, unless an adult opens the Adult 18+ mode with its own code — a mode never offered in a Kids profile.
Does parental control work on the TV as well as on the phone? Yes. Profiles, the Kids profile and the parental PIN work the same way on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Android devices; set them up on each device.
Do I pay more for profiles or the Kids profile? No. They are part of the app; see pricing for the licence.
Protect the family screen
IPTV parental control works best in layers: a Kids profile that only shows children's categories, a parental PIN that keeps the child there, adult content hidden behind its own code, and the device's own controls for screen time. Klyvo Play gives you the first three on every supported device. Download Klyvo Play, set up your family's profiles and try the full app free for 10 days.
