Test your IPTV connection speed for 4K, HD and SD

A generic speed test says whether your line is fast. Klyvo Play's connection & stream test also measures your source — and tells you which picture quality will play smoothly.

When a channel stutters, the first question is always the same: is it my Internet, or my source? A generic speed test only answers half of it. To test your IPTV connection speed for 4K, HD and SD, Klyvo Play has a built-in Connection & stream test that measures both — your line and the stream your own source actually delivers — and turns the result into plain advice.

Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service you already use and are authorized to use.

Where to find the connection & stream test

  • Phone and tablet: tap your avatar to open Settings, then Connection & stream test → Run the test.
  • TV: open Settings in the side menu, then Connection & stream test → Run the test.

In the panel, select Start test. When a live channel won't open, the error message also points you to this test.

What the test measures

The test runs in two steps, one after the other:

  1. Connection (Internet): the latency (the median of a few tiny requests) and your real download speed, measured on a neutral public speed server. A short warm-up comes first, then a download sized to your line, so the test stays quick on a slow connection and accurate on a fast one.
  2. Stream (source): a few seconds (about six) of a real live channel from your own playlist. The app measures the rate your source delivers and the Start-up time — how fast a channel begins to answer.

As soon as the panel opens, it also shows your Public IP address (IPv4, and IPv6 when your line has it). It is the first thing a provider's support asks for.

How it picks the channels it tests

To be meaningful, the stream test uses the official national channels of your country as your playlist carries them — the country chosen under Settings → Account and device → Catalogue country. If your playlist has none of them, it tries two fallback countries (the United States, then the United Kingdom), and if no official channel exists anywhere on your line, it uses the line's first channels so it still measures something.

  • It looks for these channels in each quality your line offers: 4K, HD and SD (up to two of each), going by the channel and category names.
  • It tests one channel at a time — never two streams at once on your line — and moves to the next one if a channel doesn't answer.
  • It reads only a few categories, one after another: a handful of small requests, never a burst.

4K, HD and SD: what each quality needs

For each quality, the app takes the slower of your connection and your source's stream, and compares it to what that quality needs to play smoothly:

  • 4K: 15 Mbit/s.
  • HD: 5 Mbit/s.
  • SD: 2 Mbit/s.

Each line of Result by picture quality then reads Smooth (enough), May cut out (at least 60% of the need), Likely to cut out (below that), Not responding, or “No channel in this quality on your playlist”.

Reading the advice

Under the measurements, a single sentence tells you what to do — for example “Your connection and your source handle 4K: watch in 4K with ease”, or “Watch in HD (Full HD): it is smooth. 4K may cut out.” Other verdicts point at the weak link:

  • “Your Internet connection is weak” — the network is the likely cause: see our tips to fix buffering and freezing.
  • “The source's stream is slow — the issue is the source, not the app” — contact your provider, who supplies the stream (see IPTV player or IPTV provider).
  • “Line busy — stop playback on your other devices, then run the test again” — your line is already in use elsewhere.

FAQ

Does the test work in the demo? The Internet part does. The stream part needs a connected source; without one, it shows “No source connected”.

Why is my result different from another speed test? Because the stream part measures your source, not just your line: a fast connection can still receive a slow stream.

Should I stop watching before running the test? Yes, ideally — many lines allow a single stream, and a channel playing on another device can make the test report a busy line.
