IPTV catch-up not working? Fix an empty Replay

Replay is missing, says “No recent programmes”, or a programme refuses to start. Here is what each case means and what you can do about it.

You missed the start of a programme and want to watch it from the beginning, but Replay is not there, the list is empty, or the programme you pick refuses to start. IPTV catch-up not working almost always comes down to the archive itself: catch-up only exists when your provider records the channel on its servers and declares it, for the channels and the number of days it chooses. When it works, Klyvo Play plays it; when it does not, the app tells you which part is missing. This guide goes through each symptom — a missing button, an empty list, a programme that won't play, a replay that starts at the wrong time — and what to do.

Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use. Catch-up exists only if your provider offers it for a channel.

How catch-up works in Klyvo Play, in short

For each live channel, an Xtream-compatible server can say whether it keeps an archive and for how many days. It also sends the channel's past programmes. Klyvo Play builds the Replay list from that data: the programmes your provider flags as archived come first; if it flags none, the app lists the programmes of the last three days anyway, because many servers support catch-up without flagging it. A programme then plays in the same player as live TV. The full explanation is in IPTV catch-up and timeshift explained, and the basics of the screen in how Replay works.

The Replay button is missing

Where to look depends on the device:

  • On a phone or tablet, each channel row of the Live tab has a Replay button — on a narrow screen, only its circular-arrow icon is shown.
  • On Apple TV, Fire TV and Windows, the Live screen shows a Replay button at the top, but only when the channels of the list you are browsing declare an archive. If the provider declares none in that category, the button does not appear.

So on a TV, a missing button usually means that the channels in front of you have no declared catch-up. Try another category, and ask your provider which channels have an archive.

“No recent programmes”

When Replay opens on No recent programmes — “This channel has no catch-up archive right now.” — the server sent no past programme the app could list for this channel. Two reasons are possible:

  • The channel has no archive. Catch-up is set channel by channel; many channels have none.
  • The provider sends no programme data for this channel. The Replay list is built from the programme information of your provider's own server. Without it, there is nothing to list, even if the archive exists.

One point often surprises: adding an XMLTV guide link to your playlist improves the TV guide, but it cannot create catch-up. The archive and its list belong to your provider's server — see the TV guide (EPG).

“Replay unavailable”

Replay unavailable means the server did not answer when the app asked for the channel's past programmes. It is usually temporary: the server is slow, busy at peak time, or briefly refusing requests. Go back, wait a moment and open Replay again. If it never works on any channel while live TV plays, ask your provider whether catch-up is included in your line.

IPTV catch-up not working when you press play

The list is there, you pick a programme, and the player shows Channel unavailable instead of the picture. Before giving up, the player has already tried both stream formats of the replay, as it does for a live channel. The common causes:

  • The programme is older than the archive. Each channel keeps a limited number of days. The oldest entries of the list are the first to fail.
  • The provider flags nothing. In that case, the app lists the last three days so you can try; some of those programmes may simply not be in the archive.
  • The line is busy. A replay uses a stream, like live TV. If another screen uses the same line, the server may refuse it — see IPTV max connections reached.
  • The server's catch-up service is down, while live TV keeps working. Only the provider can fix it.

The quickest test: pick a programme that ended an hour ago on the same channel. If recent programmes play and older ones fail, you have found the archive window.

A replay that starts at the wrong moment

If every replay starts a few minutes too early or too late — or on the previous programme — the archive is fine but the programme times are off. Klyvo Play asks for the replay using the start time written by your provider's own server, without guessing its time zone, so an offset almost always comes from the provider's listings. When the guide is shifted, the replay is shifted the same way. Our guide IPTV guide showing the wrong time explains how to tell a provider offset from a device clock problem. In the meantime, start the previous or the next entry of the list to land on the part you want.

Check the feature itself with the demo

To be sure Replay works on your device, select Explore the demo from the first screen or from Settings. The demo channels have their own Replay, playing royalty-free open films in place of past programmes. If the demo replays fine, the app is working and your issue is the provider's archive.

Step by step when catch-up is not working

  1. Note the exact message: no button, No recent programmes, Replay unavailable, or Channel unavailable when you press play.
  2. Try another channel known for having catch-up with your provider. If none works, the archive service or your line is the issue.
  3. Pick a recent programme, finished within the last hour or two, to rule out the archive window.
  4. Stop playback on your other devices: a replay needs a free stream on the line.
  5. Run Settings → Connection & stream test: “Line busy” or “the source returns no stream” points straight at the line or the provider.
  6. Restart the app and the device if Replay stays on Replay unavailable for every channel while live TV plays.
  7. Compare with the demo, then contact your provider with the channel, the programme and the time.

What to ask your provider

Catch-up is a service your provider runs, so a few precise questions save time: which channels of your line have an archive, and for how many days; whether the archive is included in your subscription or is an option; and whether their catch-up service had an outage at the time you tried. If replays start at the wrong moment on every channel, ask them to check the time zone of their programme listings.

FAQ

Why does one channel have catch-up and not another? Because your provider sets the archive channel by channel. Klyvo Play shows what it declares and sends.

How many days can I go back? As many as your provider keeps for that channel. The app neither shortens nor extends that window.

Can I record a programme instead? No: Klyvo Play has no recording. Catch-up from your provider is the way to watch what already aired — see can you record an IPTV channel?.

Does catch-up work on every device? Yes, where the app is available: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, Fire TV and Windows. Only where the Replay button sits changes. Plans for the app are on the pricing page.
