Looking for an IPTV player for Android TV or Google TV that is built for the couch rather than adapted from a phone? Klyvo Play has a dedicated TV interface — a side menu, large posters and a focus you can read from across the room — and it is coming soon to Google Play for Android TV and Google TV devices. This guide explains how setup works, so you are ready the day it goes live.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service you already use and are authorized to use.
Availability on Android TV and Google TV
The Android TV app has been submitted to Google Play and is not live yet. Google TV devices will run the same app. The devices page always shows the current status of each platform. If you have a Fire TV Stick, the same TV interface is already available on the Amazon Appstore — see our Fire TV Stick guide.
1. Install the IPTV player from Google Play
Once it is live, the steps will be the usual ones on an Android TV or Google TV:
- Open Google Play on your TV (or the apps search on Google TV).
- Search for Klyvo Play and install it.
- Open it from your apps row.
2. Note your device codes
The welcome screen shows two codes: the device's MAC Address (an address in MAC format that identifies this installation — Klyvo Play never reads your hardware's real MAC address) and its Device Key. With these two codes, your provider — or you, on the client portal — can attach a playlist to the TV, so you type nothing with the remote. You will find them again later in Settings, under Account and device.
3. Connect your source with the remote
Prefer to type it in? Under Connect your source, choose one of the two tabs:
- Xtream: enter the Server URL, Username and Password your service gave you. On Android TV, confirming each field with the on-screen keyboard moves straight to the next one.
- M3U link: paste the full link your provider gave you.
Then select Connect. Not sure which details you have? Read Xtream login or M3U link. No source yet? Explore the demo runs the whole app with a royalty-free sample catalogue.
4. Remote navigation on Android TV
- The side menu gives access to Search, Home, Live, TV guide, Movies, Series, My list and Settings.
- OK opens, Back goes back one level. From the profile screen, Back sends the app to the background without ever disconnecting your line.
- In films and series, Play/Pause pauses, ⏪ / ⏩ jump 10 seconds, and holding an arrow scrubs through the timeline.
- On box remotes with these keys, CH+ / CH− switch to the next or previous channel of the list you came from, the number keys open a channel by its number, and INFO shows or hides the programme.
Tips for smooth playback on a TV
- Use an Ethernet cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi when the TV supports it.
- Run Settings → Connection & stream test to see whether your line and your source can handle 4K, HD or SD — see how the stream test works.
- Stop playback on other devices that use the same line: many services allow one stream at a time.
